Extenso approved by AFSCA for Beta-Lactam antibiotics detection in milk

Belgian Federal Agency for the Safety of the Food Chain (AFSCA) just added Unisensor’s EXTENSO platform on the list of approved tests for beta-lactam antibiotics detection in milk.

The Federal Agency for the Safety of the Food Chain (AFSCA) was established after the dioxin crisis (dioxin contamination of feed for livestock in 1999), with the aim of strengthening controls by regrouping, in particular, the different ministerial departments concerned. Its main mission is "to ensure the safety of the food chain and the quality of our food to protect the health of humans, animals and plants".

Rapid tests to be used in raw milk

A list of tests recognized by AFSCA for the screening of antibiotic residues in raw milk has been updated and it contains rapid tests and microbiological inhibitor tests to be used as part of self-monitoring.

Extenso is now one of the tests approved by AFSCA for detection of beta-lactam antibiotics.

Extenso allows you to screen more than 100 antibiotic residues and toxins discriminated into 17 specific channels. It detects simultaneously all main contaminant groups in a single test to the EU MRL.
